Meeting the Growing Demands of Battery Testing for the Future of Electrified Transport
Global demand is accelerating the development of new technologies, bringing with it significant technical and safety challenges. One of the most transformative changes is the electrification of the transport sector, which is critical to achieving global emissions-reduction targets. By 2040, it is expected that more than 30% of public transport will be electrified, with up to 300 million electric vehicles operating worldwide.
As this demand grows, the testing industry must evolve to ensure safety, performance, and reliability. Advanced environmental test chambers have been developed specifically to meet the rigorous requirements of battery testing for electric mobility applications.
To address safety risks, EUCAR has established a hazard classification system defining potential danger levels associated with lithium-ion battery failures. These test chambers are designed to create precise environmental conditions for battery testing while actively detecting, managing, and mitigating potential hazards.
Safety features include early-stage failure detection using hydrogen sensors, integrated alarms, and automated purge systems. In the event of severe failure, the chambers are equipped with containment and fire-suppression solutions capable of handling critical incidents, including thermal runaway and explosions.
With a strong focus on safety, compliance, and performance, these test chambers provide a reliable and future-ready solution for battery testing in the rapidly evolving electrified transport sector.
